The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Lady Barn works in a solely fundraising capacity, providing money for the School through the organisation of a variety of social events involving parents, children and staff. The PTA also sells a range of specially selected products, many of which are designed or made by the children themselves. The PTA’s activities involve every child, parent and member of staff at the school. If you have ever attended the Christmas Fair, Sports Day, and Open Morning, Welcome Evening or been to the Annual Ball, the PTA’s work has contributed in some way. The money we raise is a valuable supplement to existing school funds, and helps to ensure that our children benefit from excellent facilities and resources.
KEY INFORMATION ABOUT THE PTA
The current Committee has 13 parents and 7 staff, volunteering their time to raise money for the School via the organisation of a variety of social events. We are further supported by many other parents who generously donate their time to make sure events run smoothly. The PTA is open to all parents and we are constantly looking for new members and helpers! You don’t have to be an active Committee member to be of great assistance – some of our most regular volunteers are parents who help out at key events. The PTA also sources and sells a range of specially selected products, many of which are made by the children themselves.
KEEPING YOU INFORMED
We stay in touch throughout the year with information about events and activities via: PTA notice board (between Herford House & Langlands), articles in School Days , Parentmail, Letters sent home via your child, informal notices which are placed in prominent places in the school grounds from time to time, school website. Please check your emails and child’s bag on a regular basis to make sure you get to know about everything that is going on.
HOW ARE FUNDS SPENT?
PTA contributions are a valuable supplement to existing school funds. Every year, the school assesses its equipment and requirements and teachers compile a “wish list” of what would be most valuable.
We try our best to organise a range of activities, with something for everyone, so that all can get involved. Events include those aimed at pupils, parents and staff.
It is always helpful to hear your new ideas about what you think will work as fundraising events. If you have any, please let us know by handing a note in to the School Office and labelling it “PTA”. We are very grateful to everyone who has got in touch with an idea. Sometimes it is not possible, either time-wise, logistically or financially to run them all, but we would like to thank everybody for their suggestions. Please don’t stop coming forward!
The PTA is reliant on a large number of volunteers to help out at events throughout the year and we are constantly looking for new members (when positions are vacant) and helpers in this respect. If you are already a willing helper and would like to become more involved, you could think about joining the PTA Committee in the future. Please contact us via the office. We keep names on file and contact people from time to time prior to main events, such as the Christmas Fair. On behalf of the PTA, we would like to thank all of you who have generously given your time and financial support over the past year.
