A message from our Head of Art, Miss Fitzsimons
BackDear LBHS families,
As many of you may already know, I’m Miss Fitzsimons, and I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the LBHS community for many years. Alongside my role as Head of Art, I am also a qualified meditation teacher and trainer. Over the years, meditation has become a vital part of my daily routine. It allows me to slow down, reflect, and connect with myself in a deeper way. Through meditation, I find a sense of clarity and calm that helps me approach challenges with a clear mind and a positive outlook. It has also greatly enhanced my creativity, giving me space to explore ideas more freely.
I’m passionate about sharing the benefits of this practice with our students, which is why I am excited to offer meditation sessions at school based in our 'coming soon' Zen Den. In these sessions, I will guide the children through simple, effective techniques to help them manage their emotions, improve their focus, and build resilience. I believe that introducing children to meditation at a young age equips them with tools they can carry with them for life. Meditation helps children develop self-awareness, patience, and emotional regulation, while fostering a sense of calm and balance. These skills not only support their learning but also their overall emotional and mental well-being, helping them to thrive in both their academic and personal lives.
I’m looking forward to continuing to support our community in new ways in the coming months/weeks, combining mindfulness practices, nurturing creativity, inner calm, and well-being in our pupils.
Warm regards
Miss Fitzsimons
