Prep 5 French Lessons

Our amazing Prep 5 children have just completed their work in their French lessons on 'Les Micro-organismes'!  Yes, that's right, they have been learning about micro-organisms in our first CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) topic of the year. All the lessons have been in French, and the children have been using their scientific knowledge and language detective skills to piece together new learning about this exciting science topic.

We started the unit with key vocabulary which would help our understanding in all lessons, before learning that micro-organisms can be both harmful and useful, looking at different types. We looked closely at the structure of a bacteria, drawing a diagram and labelling it in French before comparing bacteria with ourselves and writing complete sentences using a familiar structure. Towards the end of our topic, we looked at hand washing and how it is important because of all the things that we touch during the day.

The children have embraced a challenging term's language work and are rightly very proud of themselves for what they have achieved.
