Holiday Care

Barney's Breakout

A holiday club that broadens your child’s horizons.

Thank you for coming to have a look at what Barney’s Breakout is all about. Whilst you are busy working, we are going to be having fun in the holiday club!

This is a relatively new venture for the school, brought in-house in summer 2022 to add to our already popular and well attended wrap-around care at Lady Barn.

Barney is the school mascot and we thought this was Barney’s time to break out from the normal school fun day into holiday fun, hence the name Barney’s Breakout!

The holiday club follows the Lady Barn calendar as to when we will be open, apart from the Christmas holidays when the school will have a full shutdown.

We always have lots of activities planned which sometimes will be dictated by the weather. Therefore, there is no set timetable for you to book, just but a broad selection of planning in place to entertain your child and expose them to new experiences.

We are so lucky with our fantastic on-site facilities, internal areas and two large Astro spaces, the Early Years play areas, not forgetting our woodland area where we can extend our fun with picnics, bug hunts and nature walks. We are excited to be able to make use of them all!

Internally we have activities set up within the school, usually utilising the After-School Care room, the Hall, a quiet zone, and the Main dining room which is transformed into our welcome and play area too.

The Day

The core day booking is 9:30am –4pm for £22 with an option for:

Early drop off from 8am - add £5

Late pick up 4-6 pm - add £7

We think this offers great flexibility to parents.

Please follow this link here to create an account /sign in and book.

We can’t wait to welcome your child to Barney’s Breakout.

Payment

Payment is by credit/debit card or by having preloaded credit via childcare vouchers.

Your booking will only be confirmed after payment

You can pay for the Holiday Club with the childcare vouchers.  We do advise that you submit these in advance to allow time for them to be processed and your Holiday Club account credited.  You will be unable to make a booking unless your account is in credit to cover the costs.

Please process your payment from the childcare voucher account as you would normally to Lady Barn House School, but on the description, you will need to put your child's name and that it is for the Holiday Club.  If space is limited, you can abbreviate it to HC just so we can allocate your payment correctly.

Any credits left on your Holiday Club account will remain indefinitely to use in the future if you so wish.

We are unable to accept payment for the Holiday Club from your tax-free account.

Payment for the Holiday Club will need to be by debit/credit card or childcare vouchers.

Lunch and snacks

Provided from home and following the school policy all items must be NUT FREE.

We ask you provide healthy choices; no fizzy drinks or sweets, please.

Activities

Activities for your child will be age appropriate and grouping of the children will depend on the cohort on the day. Some of the activities will be child-led and accessed by choice and some will be guided by our experienced and motivated staff.

Here are just a few...

  • Baking, pizza making, badge making, nature walks, construction, den building, yoga, chalk art, a world of crafts, puzzle days and bubble days!
  • We will offer a quiet zone which will allow for some calm moments within the day to allow for some mindfulness activities and a chance to sit and read a book should your child so wish.
  • Story time and Circle time for the younger children to build on their listening skills and awareness.
  • We have some external visitors planned too with our extensive list of people associated with the school already, who are extending their link to provide us with Disney dance, cheerleading, street games and little professors science, yoga and much more.

What your child will need to bring

A coat and sensible clothing, including sensible shoes, is necessary every day so that your child can access all we have planned, and have fun!

On sunny days please apply sun cream before you attend and should your child need a top up, please have their sun cream clearly named and encourage your child to be able to apply it independently in most cases. A sun hat is advised.

If we are forecast some hot days, we plan to have some water fun, so a change of clothes would be advisable on these days

A healthy and nut-free lunch, snack and clearly named water bottle.

Pre-booked Woodland days

Fun in the woods can get messy and muddy therefore we ask for:

A change of clothes, set of waterproofs and wellies together with lunch, snacks and water bottle.

We will be using the woodland area for all ages outside of the pre-booked sessions within our Barney days to go for nature walks, bug hunts and picnics.

All items brought to Barney’s Breakout should be clearly named so that when they do go wandering, they can be easily returned.
