What is Jigsaw Assembly?
Jigsaw is a child-centered approach, supporting Personal, Social, and Emotional Development. This helps to give our children the knowledge, fundamental skills, and understanding they need to build their confidence, develop healthy and independent lives, while providing them with the values to reach their potential as individuals and within their school community.
In the Early Years, every week the Reception children attend a Jigsaw assembly whereby a key theme is drawn to celebrate another piece of our jigsaw. This assists the children in building a foundation for their journey. We make these sessions purposeful, interactive, and fun for all, to support their learning. We ensure all children are heard and allow them to share their knowledge, understanding, and skills during these special times. Additionally, we use stories to illustrate these key themes.
Furthermore, we use this time to celebrate many special occasions, including birthdays, as well as the main key themes every week. The children show great enjoyment in these assemblies, and each week they look forward to finding out the next piece of our jigsaw.
