Prep 2 - Discovering Famous People
Back
Prep 2 have been having a busy time exploring famous people from the past. The children have looked at how the work of Florence Nightingale changed the way nursing is today and how the brave, caring Mary Seacole ventured onto the battlefield, to treat the injured soldiers in the Crimean War.
We have also followed the courageous Amy Johnson on her solo flight to Australia and considered what she may have taken on her flight. In drama lessons, the children have thoroughly enjoyed creating a series of freeze frames to show the events and difficulties Amy Johnson encountered on her journey.
As we move into the second half of the Autumn Term, we will be researching the inventor of the railway, the moon landing, and a famous local artist, which will take us on a trip to The Lowry Gallery.
