This half term has been a busy one in Science. Prep 2 have continued to develop their skills in outdoor learning. Scavenger hunts and creating meals for animals have been on the agenda, whilst understanding how animals live and what their offspring look like. Prep 3 are enjoying fossil making as they study rocks and the work of Mary Anning. They were all shocked that her scientific discoveries were not attributed to her at the time as she was not a man!

As Prep 4 learn about States of Matter, they have performed experiments to determine the melting point of different types of chocolate and explored change of state in hot chocolate drinks.

In Upper Juniors, Prep 5 have used burning candles to explore reversible and irreversible reactions. They never knew that there was so much science in a tea light! The children have demonstrated substantial skill in microscopy now that we have a full class set of microscopes. As we have been learning about Inheritance, the children have been fascinated to look at DNA in onion cells.
