Anti-bullying Week
Back
This week we have been observing Anti-Bullying week.
Bullying is an extremely emotive subject and, I think we would all agree, it is something that we don't want happening at our school.
The theme for this year's Anti-Bullying Week was 'Choose Respect' and, for us, this is a very important message. As you may be aware, respect is an LBHS core value, and it is also one of Barney's Behaviour Rules. Mrs Slade spoke passionately about this during her Prep 2-6 Anti-Bullying assembly. She also highlighted the amazing array of wacky Odd Socks on display! The symbolism of Odd Socks Day is very powerful, it acknowledges that we are all unique and we should be very proud of our differences. At LBHS this is particularly true, the diversity of our community is a fantastic feature of our school and a true strength.
Anti-Bullying is not just for one week of the year, for us it is an year-round activity. In fact, it was the first topic on the new School Council's agenda. They have successfully reviewed the Anti-Bullying Charter and have published a refreshed 2024 version, which can be seen displayed throughout the school. The council have also invited everyone to enter an anti-bullying poster competition to demonstrate our opposition to bullying. Everyone who submits an entry will have their work displayed and a selection will receive a prize.
Thank you and well done to everyone for joining in and supporting the anti-bullying message! Through choosing respect we all can do our bit to bring an end to bullying - both online and offline.
