Prep 6 Step Up as Leaders and Learners!
Back
Prep 6 have made a truly impressive start to their final year at Lady Barn, embracing both the responsibilities and the exciting opportunities that come with being the oldest pupils in the school.
Within the first few weeks of term, House Captains were elected, Subject Captains announced, and the children officially took on their roles as Prefects. These leadership roles are more than just titles, they come with real responsibilities. From supporting Early Years children during playtimes, to helping out in the Dining Room and assisting with lunchtime clubs in the Infant Department, our Prep 6 pupils have stepped up with maturity, kindness and enthusiasm.
The Prep 6 experience is unique to Lady Barn and it is not just the opportunities to be role models that make the year so special. Whilst we are preparing the children for the transition to secondary school, and any exams that this may include, we also want to enrich their learning in all subject areas with interesting trips and visits.
In October, to support their learning in Humanities, we took the Prep 6 children to Quarry Bank Mill. They experienced life as a child in the Industrial Revolution by visiting the Apprentice House and seeing the machinery in the Mill. The children were fully immersed in the sights, sounds and atmosphere of the 19th Century. They had a wonderful time, but all agreed that their lives in the 21st century are preferable!
Also in the first half of the Autumn Term, Drama and English came to life with a visit from the Young Shakespeare Company. Prep 5 and 6 were both treated to a phenomenal, interactive performance of Macbeth, where the children were all involved in the action and gained a strong understanding of the play.
Prep 6 have made an excellent start to their final year at Lady Barn!
