Here at Lady Barn, our school continues to embrace the RE curriculum wholeheartedly, ensuring it remains a meaningful part of school life and closely aligned with our core value of Respect.

This value underpins every element of our RE approach, helping pupils understand that respecting others begins with understanding their stories, beliefs, and traditions. This term, our Christingle assembly and our Diwali assembly beautifully reflected this ethos, with the Prep 6 children playing a key role in helping to deliver both assemblies. Their thoughtful contributions encouraged pupils to appreciate the diversity of religious expression within our community. Children listened, observed, and participated with genuine curiosity and kindness, demonstrating how learning about the traditions of others deepens and celebrates mutual respect.

Our RE curriculum itself is firmly rooted in a multi-faith approach, ensuring that each topic explored in every Prep group highlights perspectives from a range of world religions. For example, this term in Prep 1, the topic of Giving Gifts has encouraged children to reflect on Christian traditions at Christmas alongside Muslim traditions during Eid. By exploring why gift-giving is meaningful in both religions, whether symbolising love, gratitude, or community, children have begun to understand how shared human values can be expressed in different ways.

In Prep 4, pupils have taken their learning even deeper by studying the lives of inspirational people of faith from a variety of religions. They have identified key events and challenges these individuals faced, exploring how their beliefs motivated them to act with courage, compassion, and determination. The children completed stunning drawings on their iPads, accompanied by motivational quotes from an inspirational person of their choice.
