1) What's something about you that most people at Lady Barn might not know but would find interesting or surprising?

Well, I've not just been a teacher all my life! Since leaving school at 16, I've been a milkman, a football coach for my local under-16 team, a forklift truck operator and an electrical engineer! 

2) Can you share a favourite memory or a funny moment that stands out to you?

There's been lots of funny, memorable moments since I joined Lady Barn. In my very first term, our coach broke down on the way to Glaramara in the Lake District! We had a bus full of very hungry, bored and frustrated pupils whilst we waited for a replacement bus. When we eventually arrived at Glaramara over 2 hours later, Mr Prendergast & Mrs Collinson spotted me banging on the coach window 'pleading' for help!!! When the bus opened its doors, I jumped out, knelt down and kissed the ground! I think Mrs Collinson still laughs about it to this day, 9 years later!!

3) What's your go-to way to relax and unwind after a busy day at Lady Barn?

On the way home from school, I like to listen to various music - anything from Queen and AC/DC, to TV and movie soundtracks. I also enjoy listening to Billy Connolly (famous Scottish comedian) and podcasts about the stars and our universe - fascinating! 

4) If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be, and how would you use it at Lady Barn?

Easy! I'd love to be able to fly and see Earth from a different, unique perspective! I could then show our pupils how amazing and huge our world is and how important and special we all are to be here.

5) Can you tell us about a special talent or hobby you have outside of your role at Lady Barn that brings you joy?

My children at home bring me joy and that's enough! Even though we have a very busy household, I do try to spend some downtime designing football shirts - my parents still have some of my old notepads and sketchbooks at home from when I started designing them well over 30 years ago!!
