At Lady Barn we make learning fun!  Once again, this year we have the opportunity to take part in an exciting maths challenge on TTRS - 'England Rocks!'

Between Tuesday 12 November and Thursday 14 November, the children in Prep 3 – 6 will be taking part in a friendly competition involving schools across England. It’s all done online via play.ttrockstars.com which all children have access to and use for homework and occasionally in school.

Children in the EYFS and Prep 1 will work on number-related challenges within their departments, with certificates awarded at the end of the week. Prep 2 will have a class and House competition on TTRS, with certificates for the winners.

To celebrate the final day of the 'England Rocks!' competition on Thursday 14 November, all pupils (and staff!) are invited to come to school dressed as a rock star! The children may like to look at their TTRS avatars for inspiration.

During the week, children in Prep 3 - 6 will earn their class a point for every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, and the Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class averages. Winning classes in the school will be announced each day, as well as Lady Barn’s position in the National Standings.

All game modes (Gig, Garage, Studio, Jamming, Arena, Festival and Soundcheck) will count, but only from games played between 7:30am and 7:30pm on Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 November.

To support player wellbeing, there is a daily time limit of 60 minutes per player. Once the player goes beyond 60 minutes of play on a given day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition. We will aim to complete daily sessions in school and then pupils can complete the remainder of their sessions for their homework each evening, in line with their respective homework times. If your child wishes to complete more than this, we suggest a limit of half an hour a day outside school hours.

In the spirit of the competition, please do not play on your child's behalf, but by all means encourage and support them, to the extent that it does not cause high stress levels or impact on family plans.

Many thanks for your support in what we hope will be a 'rockin' week' for all!!
