Children in Prep 6 enjoyed a wonderful 3-night residential in France last month. Myriam welcomed us back to the beautiful Hardelot Centre in the Pas-de-Calais region, the site of our annual French trips for a decade now.

The French Trip marks the culmination of years of Modern Languages study for the children (not all of it in French!) and the first 'real life' opportunity for many to see that it works! The children can communicate confidently and be understood, they can express friendship and respect through language, and they can forge connections.

We enjoyed day trips out to the awe-inspiring Nausicaá aquarium in Boulogne-sur-Mer; the fascinating museum of the Battle of Agincourt (where we also tried our hand at archery!); the delicious insights of the Beussent Chocolate factory; the moving and beautiful Etaples Military Cemetery; and the real-town market shopping and café culture of Etaples and Le Touquet, where the children impressed us with their French speaking efforts.

We were treated to beautiful food throughout, from the croissant-laden breakfasts at the centre, to the fancy trip out to Le Grand Café. But perhaps the most enduring memories for the children will be of the long, sunny afternoons they spent playing freely in the Hardelot Centre's stunning woodland grounds. A great time was had by all and we would highly recommend the trip to anyone in Prep 5 thinking of going next year!
