Super Adventures in Reception!
Back
Reception have had a fantastic time diving into the world of Supertato, and what an adventure it’s been! From the moment we opened the book, the classroom came alive with excitement, imagination… and just a little bit of mischief!
A Villain Among Us...!
One of the most memorable moments was discovering that the EVIL PEA had escaped into our classroom! Chaos followed, with trapped vegetables, mysterious messes, and lots of puzzled faces. But our Reception superheroes were quick to respond. They investigated the scene, rescued the poor veggies, and got straight to work tracking down the pesky pea.
Literacy with a Twist
We’ve used our Supertato theme to bring literacy to life. The children created brilliant “Wanted” posters for the Evil Pea, using their phonics knowledge to describe him and warn others about his cheeky ways. It’s been amazing to see their writing skills developing as they sound out tricky words and build full sentences with growing confidence.
Learning Through Play and Storytelling
This theme has sparked so much creativity - not just in writing, but through role play, discussions, and problem-solving. The children have loved stepping into the world of heroes and villains, using their imaginations to bring the story to life in their own way.
It’s been a super term full of learning, laughter, and a whole lot of teamwork. The Evil Pea won’t stand a chance next time!
