People who Help us…
Back
It has been a busy and exciting few weeks in Nursery, as the children have been developing their Understanding of the World, through their new topic of “People who help us”.
The children began this exciting journey by walking around Lady Barn, where the children discovered many people who support them in their everyday life at school. Some of the people they saw were Nurse Butt, Chef Phil, Mr Collinson, Mr Austin and Ms Higson – to name a few! The children loved exploring all the different areas within Lady Barn and gaining a deeper understanding of all the important jobs the staff at Lady Barn do.
Building on this, the children started looking beyond Lady Barn and all the people who help us in the community. They were especially lucky to welcome some fantastic visitors, giving the children hands-on experiences they won’t forget!
First, we met the Doctors, who came to tell us how they help make people better. They showed us some of the tools they use, to solve the mystery of why someone might be unwell. We talked about there being different types of doctors. It certainly sparked lots of curiosity—and perhaps even inspired a few future doctors!
After this, the Dentist came to see us, where she explained to the children how important it is to look after our teeth. Learning about how to keep them clean and what foods/drinks are good choices.
Then excitement continued when the Paramedics arrived. They showed the children how they care for people in emergencies, gave them a look inside the ambulance, and even switched on the sirens—much to everyone’s amazement!
We still have one more very special visitor to come, bringing along a furry friend with four paws, two fluffy ears, and a very waggy tail… we can’t wait!
The children have thoroughly enjoyed these experiences, gaining a deeper understanding of the world around them, while creating lasting and meaningful memories along the way.
