Lady Barn House School Celebrates Victory in Young Writers’ I Have A Dream Competition
Back
Lady Barn House School is thrilled to announce that its talented students have been chosen as the winners in Young Writers’ I Have A Dream poetry competition, winning £1000 and the Young Writers’ Award of Excellence. This remarkable achievement highlights the creativity, passion, and dedication of young writers at Lady Barn House School.
Out of 1247 schools entering from across the UK, Lady Barn House School stood out with its engaging and imaginative submissions. The competition challenged students to write a poem in any style, exploring the theme of dreams, either real-life aspirations or imaginative wishes.
Miss Evans, Prep 5 Form Teacher & Head of Writing, expressed pride in the pupils’ accomplishment, saying, "It was wonderful seeing how this competition helped to spark our pupils' imaginations, encourage their development and confidence in writing, as well as foster a love for poetry. We are incredibly proud of their achievements!"
The competition judges praised the entries for the scope of topics and styles covered, ranging from free verse poems about kids being in charge, Candyland acrostics, and rhyming wonderlands filled with dragons and unicorns. The judges said that “The students of Lady Barn House School impressed us with their use of imaginative language, creating wonderful poems in a variety of styles and on a range of subjects. They have written bold, creative poems which showcase their grasp of language and poetic techniques.”
This achievement underscores the importance of encouraging creative outlets in education and is a proud moment for the entire Lady Barn House School community. Congratulations to the young writers on their exceptional success!
Ms Higson praised the pupils' achievement: "At Lady Barn, we believe every child has a voice worth hearing. These wonderful poems are full of imagination, confidence and individuality, and we couldn't be prouder to see our children's voices recognised on a national level."
