Prep 2 have had a very busy half term. In English, they began exploring the works of William Shakespeare through a child-friendly version of The Tempest. Conjuring spells for a storm similar to those Prospero might use, as well as using their imagination to create their own fairies, gave the children a chance to apply the skills they have developed this year and produce some fantastic pieces of writing. 

In Maths, the children have been puzzling their way through time. As they get ready for the summer holidays, they will be able to make sure they are always on time after completing this unit! 

The highlight of the Prep 2 calendar is the residential at the end of the year.  The trip to Tattenhall was packed with fun, excitement and memorable experiences that encouraged the children to be independent, while creating lasting friendships and memories. 

Throughout the residential, the children embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and positivity. One of the highlights was pond dipping, where they explored the natural environment and discovered a variety of fascinating creatures, including tadpoles and larvae. The activity sparked their curiosity and creativity as they carefully observed and discussed their findings with their friends. 

The tree-climbing activity provided an excellent opportunity for the children to demonstrate resilience and determination. Many pupils challenged themselves to climb higher than they thought possible, showing great courage and perseverance when faced with difficulties. It was wonderful to see them encouraging one another and celebrating each other's achievements. 

Teamwork and communication were essential during the low ropes course. The children worked together to solve problems, support their classmates and ensure everyone could participate successfully. They showed respect for one another by listening carefully, offering help when needed and celebrating everyone's contributions. The thrill of the zip wire was another favourite activity, with children cheering on their friends and demonstrating confidence as they stepped outside their comfort zones. 

During orienteering, the children used their map-reading skills to navigate around the site while solving puzzles and challenges. This activity required collaboration, critical thinking and teamwork, and the children rose to the challenge brilliantly. 

The overnight stay was a particularly special experience, giving the children the chance to share rooms with their friends, build independence and strengthen friendships. The residential provided countless opportunities for personal growth, learning and adventure. Prep 2 returned with wonderful memories, increased confidence and a sense of pride in all they had achieved. They are already excited and looking forward to their residential adventure next year!
