Theme Week has been an exciting and memorable experience for Prep 3, with this year’s focus on the fascinating world of animals. Throughout the week, the children have been learning all about arthropods and exploring a variety of wild, weird, and wonderful creepy crawlies. They discovered where these creatures live, the habitats they depend on, and some of the unique features that help them survive.

The children combined their English and computing skills by researching and creating a fact file about an animal or insect of their choice. This gave them the opportunity to learn new information and present it in an engaging way. They greatly enjoyed the freedom to be creative and include information of their choice and images that complimented their writing. They also loved sharing them with each other.

Art lessons were equally exciting, as the class worked together to create a collaborative piece of artwork celebrating the incredible diversity of arthropods. The project encouraged creativity, teamwork, and communication. Look out for our super sized centipedes at the Art exhibition, every body segment is different!

Throughout the week, the children worked both independently and collaboratively, developing their discussion skills, confidence, and ability to work as part of a team. It was a fantastic week filled with a wide variety of activities, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about some truly strange and spectacular arthropods. What a wonderful Theme Week it has been!
