The Prep 6 children are stepping into the next chapter of their education with a sense of readiness, confidence, and genuine excitement. Over the course of the term, they have taken part in a rich programme of transition activities designed to help them understand what secondary school life will feel like. Teachers from a range of senior schools have visited to meet their new pupils, answer questions, and give pupils a flavour of the expectations and opportunities that lie ahead. These sessions, alongside visits to their new schools, have helped smooth the move to Year 7, allowing pupils to picture themselves in new environments.

Alongside this, Prep 5 have enjoyed their own forward-looking experience: a bespoke taster day at Stockport Grammar School, with a special focus on STEM. From hands-on experiments to problem-solving challenges, they were encouraged to think creatively, collaborate, and explore new ideas. This early exposure to a new school builds the foundations for a smooth transition when their time comes next year.

Together, these experiences form a carefully considered program. Lady Barn children learn to embrace change, ask thoughtful questions and recognise their own growing independence. By the time they reach the end of Prep 6, they are not only academically prepared but emotionally equipped for the new routines, friendships, and opportunities that secondary school brings.

As they look ahead, Prep 6 pupils carry with them the values, resilience, and enthusiasm nurtured throughout their time at Lady Barn. They step forward with pride in who they are and optimism for what comes next. The children are ready to take on the challenges and adventures of secondary school. We will miss them but know they will go on to do fantastic things.
