What a brilliant year it’s been in Science. Across the terms, curiosity and creativity have flourished in lessons, clubs, and competitions. Our ever-popular Science Challenge drew more entries than ever, with an impressively high standard throughout. This year’s space theme inspired rockets, models, and investigations that were out of this world—congratulations to everyone who took part and made choosing the winners so difficult. We’re already excited to reveal next year’s theme.

The summer term has been perfect for taking science outdoors. Pupils have tended our planters with care; the vegetables are thriving and many are now ready to harvest, giving us a tasty context for learning about plant biology and sustainability. Classes have also been collecting natural specimens—leaves, petals, seeds, and feathers—for careful biological drawings, honing observational skills and scientific accuracy. Thank you to staff, families, and pupils for your enthusiasm and support—science at Lady Barn is in great health.
