The Blazing Saddles Take on Their Fifth Charity Ride
Back
The Blazing Saddles are back in the saddle for their fifth charity bike ride, with our Governor, Mr Kabbani (Alumni, Class of 1981), joining fellow alumni, past and current parents and friends for another incredible challenge.
This year, the team will take on a route of more than 250km from Banyuls-sur-Mer in France, through Girona and on to Barcelona. Along the way, they will face the demanding climbs of the Spanish Pyrenees, as well as the heat of the region, making this one of their most challenging rides yet.
For the Blazing Saddles, however, the challenge is about much more than the cycling. Their rides have raised well over £130,000 for charity to date, supporting nominated charities including Cancer Research UK, Seashell Trust, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Leukaemia Care and more. The team is continuing to fundraise ahead of this year’s ride, helping to support causes that make a real difference to people’s lives.

Over the past five years, their rides have brought together a community of friends, former pupils and Lady Barn families, creating a fantastic connection between the school community and its alumni.

“The Blazing Saddles were formed back in 2020 at the height of lockdown when a number of old friends decided to dust down their old bikes and hit the beautiful Cheshire countryside. The nucleus of this group were dads from Lady Barn, and some were even former pupils! “Five years on, the Blazing Saddles are now on their 5th international trip, cycling over 250km from Banyuls-sur-Mer through Girona to Barcelona in mid-September, with plenty of climbing through the Spanish Pyrenees in the blistering heat! “We have raised well over £130,000 for our nominated charities and are still fundraising for our upcoming ride. We would be grateful for any further donations, which truly help motivate us all. The donation link can be found on the front page of our website: www.theblazingsaddles.co.uk” - Punk Takiar, Past Parent |
The continued involvement of Lady Barn alumni and families makes the ride particularly special for our school community. It is a wonderful example of the friendships and connections formed through Lady Barn continuing long after pupils and families have left the school.
Once a Lady Barner, Always a Lady Barner.
As Mr Kabbani and the rest of the team prepare to take on the Fifth Ride, we wish them the very best of luck. We look forward to following their progress and supporting them as they take on another incredible challenge in aid of some very worthy causes.

Support the Fifth Ride
The Blazing Saddles are still fundraising for their 2026 challenge, and every donation can help motivate the team and support their nominated charities.
