Reception visit Cockfield's Farm
Back
What a fun day we have had on our trip to Cockfield's Farm! When it was time to set off the children had their backpacks on and were ready to board the coach! We had great fun spotting different, buildings, shops and cars out the window, on our journey there.
When we arrived at Cockfield's farm we kicked things off with a rather bumpy tractor ride all around the farm, spotting lots of different animals. We saw pigs, llamas, alpacas, goats, sheep, and lambs. Once we climbed off the tractor, we had a walk around the duck pond where we also got to see the donkeys, ducks and geese. On our way back to the barn we saw some very unusual chickens; some were huge, with very fluffy feet and fancy hair-dos!
There were two barns to explore next, where we enjoyed a much more hands-on experience with the animals. The first barn was full of guinea pigs and rabbits; everyone had a turn at giving them a very gentle stroke and they were so soft! In the next barn, the animals in were very pleased to see us, as it was our job to feed them! In the middle of the barn, there was a big bucket of food for the children to help themselves to and then they could pick one of the goats, sheep, or alpacas to feed. It tickled when they took the food from our hands!
Finally, we got to see a lizard and a snake up close; the children were very brave to give them a stroke too! After seeing and feeding so many different animals we had built up quite an appetite ourselves, so were pleased that it was time for lunch! When all the sandwiches and snacks were finished, it was time to go and explore the play area, with lots of swings, slides, and sand, before heading back to school.
We had an amazing time at Cockfield's Farm. Well done Reception!
