The Poetry Recital Competition is an important event in the Lady Barn Summer Term calendar. This year our twenty-four finalists competed for the two cups, one for Upper Juniors and one for Lower Juniors and the two Runners-up prizes. Before an appreciative audience of friends and teachers they performed their poems and reading passages.

The adjudicator this year was Zach Atkinson, a former Lady Barn pupil who performed as Michael, Billy’s friend, in the West End production of Billy Elliott for two years. He is now acting professionally and is enjoying a successful career; it was fantastic to welcome him back to school.

The winner of the Upper Junior competition was Luka (5F) and the runner-up was Shreya (6A).

In the Lower Junior competition, the winner was Prisha (4D) and the runner-up was Elsie (4W).

A big well done to these pupils. As Zach said, the standard was very high overall, and congratulations must go to all our brilliant finalists.
