Prep 2 Visit Chester Zoo!
Back
On Tuesday, the children in Prep 2 swapped the classroom for the great outdoors as they set off on a fantastic day out to the zoo. The trip was the perfect complement to their Humanities topic on the rainforest, giving pupils the exciting opportunity to see some of the animals they’ve been learning about up close.
Throughout the day, the children eagerly explored the zoo, keeping their eyes peeled for creatures from the rainforest and beyond. They were fascinated by the wide variety of animals, with some clear favourites emerging: the gentle capybara, the ever-popular red panda, and, to everyone’s delight, a snow leopard on the prowl.
Juliet from 2L shared one of the day's unexpected highlights, saying, “It was very funny that when we were eating our lunch, some ducks came to find food on the floor!” Meanwhile, Zakariya (2L) was particularly taken by the big cats, adding, “I loved seeing the snow leopard and the cheetah. It was lying on the floor, fast asleep.”
The elephants captivated the children with their size, and for many, the perfect way to end a busy, sunshine-filled day was with a well-deserved ice cream.
It was a memorable day filled with fun, discovery, and lots of animal encounters. The zoo trip not only reinforced the children’s classroom learning but also sparked their curiosity and sense of wonder about the natural world.
