On Friday 9 May, 30 Prep 6 girls set off on the Rounders tour full of excitement for the day ahead. The weather was glorious all day and the girls were in high spirits and eager to play.

The first stop on the tour was to Bowdon Preparatory School in Altrincham, where the girls played as three smaller teams of 10 and they rotated to play both Bowdon teams. There were some excellent batting efforts from the Lady Barn girls, with a few balls being hit over the fence into neighbouring gardens! It was also great to see the team spirit and encouragement the girls showed towards each other.

Next stop on the tour was Myddelton College, which is a day and boarding school in the town of Denbigh. The school grounds were extensive with some impressive architecture in their buildings which provided a great backdrop to our matches. Here the girls played in two larger teams of 15 players. The Myddelton teams were mixed, giving the Lady Barn girls an opportunity to play against both boys and girls. The Lady Barn teams showed some excellent fielding and gained both confidence and wins.

It was then time to get back on the bus for the short journey across to Rydal Penhros School, to play the final matches. Rydal Penrhos again fielded mixed gendered teams. The Lady Barn girls again played in three smaller teams, and showed great resilience and focus as they were unfazed by the shouting from the Rydal Penhros team. All three teams played well gaining mixed results, but this did nothing to dampen team spirit, which was fantastic to see. We then boarded the bus to make the short journey round the corner to the dining room for tea. There was just time for a group photo before we climbed aboard the bus one last time to make the long journey back to Lady Barn.

The rounders tour was a brilliant day with lots of matches played and hopefully a lot of fun was had by all. Well done to all the girls who took part!
