Lady Barn House School Receives National Gold Award for Outdoor Learning
Back
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Outdoor Learning Gold Award for 2025–2027, accredited by Optimus Education as part of the School Impact Awards.
This national recognition celebrates our whole-school commitment to embedding outdoor learning across the curriculum – not as an occasional enrichment activity, but as a meaningful, planned, and progressive part of our pupils’ educational experience. From EYFS nature trails and Prep science investigations in the school’s woodland area, to storytelling in outdoor classrooms and whole-school wellbeing walks, our outdoor provision is both intentional and impactful.
What Makes Outdoor Learning at Lady Barn Distinctive?
At Lady Barn, we believe children thrive when they are connected to the natural world. Outdoor learning develops resilience, fosters curiosity, and nurtures wellbeing – key qualities that support not only academic success but lifelong growth. Our approach is not limited to “outdoor play” but integrates cross-curricular, hands-on learning opportunities that span subjects, seasons and stages of development.
Looking Ahead
The Outdoor Learning Gold Award is not an end point – it’s a benchmark that reflects our vision for education. Over the next two years, we will continue to develop our outdoor spaces, share best practice across the sector, and champion the importance of nature-connected, whole-child learning.
If you’d like to see our outdoor learning in action, we warmly invite prospective families to visit us for a tour or open morning. Come and discover what makes Lady Barn such a special place to learn, explore and grow.
