At Lady Barn we prepare the children from a young age to speak in front of an audience. Our Year 2 Reading Competition is an important part of building that skill. All the children in Year 2 take part by preparing a piece to read to their class and teachers. After two rounds, we gather together in the Drama Studio to watch the six finalists read two pieces to their audience: the Infant classes and their teachers.

This year's final was held on Thursday and was judged by Ms Higson and Mrs Thomas. All the finalists were fantastic and read with enthusiasm and expression. Choosing the winner was a difficult task. However, a decision was made with Anika 2LF announced as the worthy winner. She was awarded the Hulston Reading Shield, with Bea 2A as the runner-up.

Congratulations to Anika and Bea and to all of the other six finalists, and to the fifteen children who made it through to Round 2. We are so proud of you all!
