In Prep 4, we have been learning about castles and on Wednesday 4 June, we took a trip to Skipton Castle in North Yorkshire. The castle was first built in 1090, 24 years after the Normans won the Battle of Hastings, and has been added to many times over its 900-year history.

The children really enjoyed their tour and were able to answer questions about castle features such as moats, drawbridges, arrow slits and the portcullis. The tour ended in the dungeons, where the lights were turned out and the children were plunged into darkness. Most of Prep 4 remarked that the dungeons were their favourite part of the day!
