It has been a wonderfully creative and inspiring term in the Art Department, with every Prep class exploring a wide range of exciting techniques, artists, materials, and ideas. The studio has truly become a vibrant hub of imagination, colour, experimentation and artistic growth.

Prep 1 and Prep 2 have enthusiastically explored a variety of artistic techniques throughout the year. From painting and collage to photography and digital editing, pupils have experimented with different ways of creating and expressing ideas. Their confidence and curiosity have grown with every project, producing imaginative and colourful work that reflects their developing artistic skills.

Prep 3 have delved into the fascinating world of colour theory, learning how colours interact and influence mood and design. Alongside this, they explored artists from around the world, gaining inspiration from different cultures, styles, and artistic traditions. Their work has been vibrant, thoughtful, and full of energy.

Prep 4 investigated the fantastic works of the artist Henri Rousseau, focusing particularly on his jungle scenes and exotic wildlife. Inspired by his style, pupils created striking tiger-themed oil pastel artworks full of texture and bold colour. In addition, they contributed creatively to their annual play by designing and making props and stage decorations, showcasing both teamwork and artistic flair.

Prep 5 explored the original illustrations of Alice in Wonderland by John Tenniel, comparing them with contemporary interpretations of the famous story. This inspired pupils to create wonderfully imaginative and elegant miniature top hats, each one uniquely designed with fantastic attention to detail, creativity, and character.

Prep 6 spent the term studying the beauty and intricacy of moths and butterflies. Their final outcomes were incredibly diverse and impressive, ranging from highly detailed observational drawings to collage relief pieces and beautifully crafted ceramic magnets. The project encouraged pupils to explore texture, pattern, symmetry, and mixed media techniques in exciting and individual ways.
