Over the past few weeks, Prep 6 have been on a mission — not just to complete their work, but to make it sparkle with creativity, originality, imagination, and flair! Whether it’s English, Maths, or specialist subjects, we’ve been asking ourselves one big question: How can we present this in a way no one has ever seen before? 

Our English lessons have been especially inspiring thanks to our adventures with Adam Baron’s, Cymbeline from the novel ‘Boy Under Water’. It has given us endless opportunities to think outside the box. We’ve recreated scenes as breaking news bulletins, complete with “live” interviews from the characters. We’ve designed social media profiles for characters, imagining what they might post or comment about the events in the story. We have written letters, poems, fact pages and play scripts taking our inspiration from the hilariously unexpected and the deeply moving events in each chapter. 

What’s been most exciting is seeing how creativity has become the golden thread running through everything we do. It’s not just about making work look pretty — it’s about finding new ways to think, to solve problems, and to share our ideas. We’ve learned that creativity isn’t something you do once a week; it’s a way of approaching the world with curiosity, courage, and a willingness to try something different. 

In Maths, our learning about circles focused on key facts and formulae for circumference and area. We identified and named the different parts of a circle before creating striking chord patterns using paper and pens. Our final project truly tested our ability to combine creativity and perseverance as we were challenged to stitch our own chord patterns. The results were incredible! The children were immensely proud to develop new skills and produce their own unique designs. Many couldn’t even thread a needle at the start of the project, but now confidently tackle ambitious sewing techniques with enthusiasm.  It’s amazing how a little creative thinking can turn even the trickiest challenge into something exciting and memorable. 

Alongside all of this, we have been busy rehearsing for our whole year group production of Bugsy. The children have embraced every opportunity to use their creativity, both on stage and behind the scenes, designing eye‑catching posters and tickets for the show. We can’t wait to see the results of all this hard work and effort come together in the final performance. 

Prep 6 have shown that when you combine hard work with imagination, the results are unforgettable. We’re proud of the skills we’ve developed, the risks we’ve taken, and the joy we’ve found in learning. And who knows? Maybe our next Maths lesson will be a mystery novel, or our next comprehension will be a board game. With creativity as our guide and a new school journey on the horizon, we know anything is possible!
