Ms L Higson - Headmistress

As Headmistress of Lady Barn House School, Ms Higson is responsible for leading the school community, shaping its strategic vision, and ensuring that every child receives an outstanding education in a nurturing and inspiring environment.

Ms Higson is passionate about creating opportunities for pupils to develop the confidence, curiosity and resilience they need to flourish in an ever-changing world.

A Mathematics graduate, she has taught across both the state and independent sectors, working with children aged 3–11 throughout her teaching career. Prior to joining Lady Barn, she was Head of a 3–18 boarding school in Sussex and also serves as an Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Inspector, bringing extensive leadership and educational expertise to her role.

What she enjoys most about Lady Barn is the children themselves. Their enthusiasm, individuality and love of learning are at the heart of everything the school does and continue to inspire her every day.

Outside school, Ms Higson has a keen interest in ceramics and is happiest either throwing clay on the potter’s wheel or spending time with her two Labradors, Darwin and Percy. She has recently taken up golf and, while still very much a beginner, is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of learning a new sport.
